I couldn’t have been more excited when I found out that Kate and Will were the winners of my fall in-home session giveaway! I went to college with Kate, and we got to take many art classes together and even study photography together, so I was thrilled to finally get the chance to see her cute home and even cuter kitty-cat during their intimate in-home session! I love doing in-home sessions with couples or families because there’s something special about taking photos of people in a place so sacred to them and where they do life together. And I love getting to see people in their natural element and telling their story from a place where a lot of their story actually does unfold. It feels natural and real and intimate. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy taking photos in big, beautiful landscapes, but there’s something quiet and honest about an in-home session that’s less about the background or location and more about the people and their story/connection. I’m so, so grateful for the people that invite me into their homes and let me capture these kinds of moments!
